Dog
Training The Easy Way
|
|
Training your dog yourself can be very
rewarding and has many advantages. Just like your own child, your
dog looks up to you and wants to make you happy. When you train your
dog yourself you both learn to communicate with each other, and
develop a special relationship.
Try to conduct your training exercises when your dog is hungry.
You generally will be rewarding your dog’s good behavior with
treats, and the treats will be more rewarding when your dog is
hungry.
At first, you should conduct your dog training exercises in an area
with no distractions. You may add distractions after your dog has
the commands down pat.
You should spend about fifteen minutes a day training your dog.
Start with one new command and do not move on to the next command
until your dog learns that command. After moving on to the next
command, rap up the training session with a recap of the previous
learned commands.
Commands should be said in a commanding voice just slightly louder
and deeper in tone than normal. Commands should be reinforced with
hand signals or some type of body language.
We have thousands of books and
hundreds of DVDs and videos available to show you precisely how to
train your dog. Please see Dog Books and Dog DVDs on the left side.
